About the Galbreaith - Pickard Funeral Chapel


  •    James R. Plowman, President / Manager
    James R. Plowman has been a licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer for over 25 years. James is a native of Weatherford and has been active in the community all of his life. He is dedicated to the needs of bereaved families and specializes in personalization of funeral services to meet the needs of each individual family. A member of the Oak Ridge Church of Christ James serves as a worship leader leads the praise team and occasionally sings Bass or Tenor. James is an avid woodworker, who designs some of the cremation urns and keepsake urns that can be purchased at the funeral home. He is married has two daughters and two grandchildren. He has numerous hobbies including serious amateur photography, and computers. A favorite quote would be, if asked to facilitate a task not already scheduled, “I’ll get to it in my spare time between midnight and 2:00 am.”

 

  •    Norma Plowman, Office Manager / Owner / Account Manager 
    Norma Plowman, a graduate of Weatherford High School and Weatherford College has been a bookkeeper most of her life. Her family moved to the Greenwood Community when she was a child and she has lived in Weatherford most of her life. Norma has been a part of the Galbreaith Pickard family almost from the beginning. She was married to the “Love of Her Life” J.V. Plowman for over 50 years, with whom she co owned the funeral home. Norma became the sole owner at the death of her husband. She is a member of South Main Church of Christ. Norma has 3 children, 7 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren.

 

  •    Cathy Plowman, Executive Secretary / Insurance Specialist / Floral Consultant
    Cathy Plowman was born in Dallas, Texas. She has worked for the firm for 25 years as a Secretary, Funeral Assistant, and Insurance Specialist. She is married with two adult children, and two grand children. Cathy has always put an emphasis on ministering to the needs of others, and she feel God has blessed her with an occupation that is a ministry.

 

  •    Melody Turner, Funeral Director / Prearrangement Counselor
    Melody Turner was born in Weatherford and has lived here all her life. She had an interest in the funeral business as early as high school, was a Medical Assistant prior to attending Dallas Institute of Funeral Service. She is a member of Calvary Baptist Church and Parker County Executive Association. Melody is married and has two children. She is dedicated to serving families with care and compassion.

 

  •    Mark Worthy, Funeral Director
    Mark Worthy became interested in funeral service after graduating from Okmulgee High School in Oklahoma. He moved to Texas, attended the Dallas Institute of Funeral Service, and settled in Tarrant County where he provided 20 years of funeral service to families in the area. Mark enjoys auto racing, hunting, and other outdoor activities.

 

  •    William Thornton, Funeral Director
    William Thornton was born in Fort Lauderdale, FL. Growing up in a military family he lived in many states before moving to Weatherford in 1998. A graduate of Dallas Institute of Funeral Service he entered the Funeral Director Program in October 2005. He enjoys listening to music, and spending time with his family and friends.
