Willie B. (Bea) Scoggins was born April 18, 1927 to Joe Bert and Cora Myrtle Minor, in Paradise, Texas. After her first husband died in an accident at work and left her with four kids (ages 14, 12, 11, and 7), she worked at several occupations to make ends meet and supplement social security, as a cosmetologist, seamstress, and Avon lady. All four kids turned out well, so she did a good job. In 1973 she married Harless Scoggins and had a larger family with his three grown children.
Willie was predeceased by her parents; a brother, Aubrey Minor; four sisters, Quillah, Ruby D., Gladys, and Audrey Faye; youngest son, Jackie Dale Newkirk; first husband, Billy Wayne Newkirk; husband, Harless Blena Scoggins; and her last, oldest, immediate family member - nephew, Jimmy D. Nall, who passed at age 89, two weeks prior on August 19, 2024.
Willie is survived by her children, Robert (Paula) Newkirk, Paul (Pam) Newkirk, and Vicki (John) Hall; grandchildren, Ricky Dimock, Jennifer (Aaron) Greenfield, Hollie (John) Felmet, Robin Newkirk, Philip (Jessica) Newkirk, and Rhonda (Kurt) Hatfield; several great grandchildren and several great great grandchildren; and her favorite cat, Charlie. (She never was a cat person until Charlie.)
A longtime member of Santa Fe Baptist Church in Weatherford, Willie loved to sing and attend regularly. She loved her church family.
Friends and family will gather for a time of visitation from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, September 6, 2024, at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel, in Weatherford, Texas.
Her funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 7, 2024, at Santa Fe Baptist Church, in Weatherford, Texas. Following the service, a procession will make its way to East Greenwood Cemetery for a committal service.
