William "Sonny" Ray Buckingham, born on March 16, 1944, in Arlington, Texas, passed away peacefully on March 2, 2026, at the age of 81. He was the beloved son of Shannon and Mary (Vermillion) Buckingham and honorably served in the Army National Guard for six years.
Sonny dedicated many years of his life to serving others as the minister of the Rock of Helps Church. His compassion extended beyond the church, as he devoted 33 years to his role as a chaplain and jailer for the Parker County Sheriff's Office. In his free time, Sonny cherished fishing and creating memories with his family.
Sonny is survived by his wife, Diana L. Buckingham of Weatherford, Texas; his children, Monica Low and husband Jason, Aaron Buckingham and wife Tina, and Jonathan Buckingham and wife Talisha; grandchildren, Sarah, Kayla, Colby, Rachel, Kinzey, Kolton, Dianata Marie, Greyson, and Easton; great-grandchildren, Aiden, Timothy, Ella, Sierra, Joshua, Brody, and Allareigh; as well as his sister, Colene Golightly.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Dianata Fisher; sister, Jan Dalton; and stepsister, Eva Munger.
A time of visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 5, 2026, at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel, located at 913 North Elm Street, Weatherford, Texas 76086.
The funeral service will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 6, 2026, at the same location, with burial to follow at Willow Pond Cemetery, located at 2520 FM 2256 in Mineral Wells, Texas.
Sonny will be remembered for his dedication to service to his community.
