William Burton Cook entered into the presence of His Lord on Saturday, August 23, 2014, at the age of 90. Born in Shep, Taylor County, Texas, on July 10, 1924, he married his sweetheart there April 24, 1943. He and Totsie Dean Grisham celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary this year.

Burton served in the U.S. Navy during WWII, after which he started a new farm southwest of Lubbock Texas, near Morton. However, severe hay fever caused him to move from the farm to White Settlement, Texas, where he worked more than 32 years as a machinist for the aircraft company that eventually became Lockheed-Martin.

Faith and family were always his priorities, serving as a Baptist Deacon and Men’s Bible study teacher for 50 years, mostly at North Side Baptist Church in Weatherford. He and Totsie raised two sons and two daughters; taking them to church and teaching them the joys of serving Christ especially through mission activities and faithful giving. Travel, fishing and reading were his hobbies but making sure his wife and family were happy and well cared for always ranked first on his agenda.

Burton was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Jewel Cook, and sister, Eloise Reynolds.

He is survived by one sister, Joy Baze of Phoenix, Arizona. Immediate family surviving include his wife, Totsie Dean Grisham Cook; son, Burton Cook, Jr. (Karen); son, Benny Cook (Jennittie), all of Weatherford. Also, daughter, Sharon West of Burleson, and daughter, Gwen Hudson (Jake) of Las Vegas, Nevada. Nine grandchildren include, Juel Bragg, Kristi Tye (Tim), Lori Carman (Brian), Rodney West, Sharie Smart (Phil), Joel Hudson (Carissa), Audra Holm, Brad Cook (Karla), Jennifer Eaton (Caleb). He has sixteen great grandchildren and one great great grandson, as well as five nieces.

A private family service of interment will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery Wednesday August 27, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. with a public memorial service 1:00 p.m. at North Side Baptist Church. A visitation will be Tuesday August 26, 2014 at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
