Wesley Harlan Cole, age 87, passed peacefully from this life on Friday, June 5, 2026.
Born on October 31, 1938, in Redmond, Oregon, Wes was the son of Harlan and Dollie (Smalley) Cole. He answered the call to serve his country with honor in the United States Marine Corps. Following his military service, he built a hardworking life, spending time with the Forestry Service in California before moving to Texas, where he drove a truck hauling gravel and later retired as a supervisor with Georgia Pacific in the lumber industry.
Wes was a man who found joy in the simple gifts of God's creation. He loved the outdoors and could often be found hunting, fishing, or quietly watching birds. He appreciated the peace and beauty that surrounded him. In his later years, Wes became a man of faith. Throughout his life, he was known for his steady spirit and strong values.
Family was an important part of Wes' journey. He cherished the time spent with those he loved and leaves behind a legacy of dedication and enduring love.
Wes was preceded in death by his parents, Harlan and Dollie Cole; late wife, Ruby Cole; his son, Randy Cole; stepdaughter, Kathleen Carlisle; stepson, Troy Carlisle; and his daughter-in-law, Pam Cole.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Gloria Cole of Weatherford, Texas; his son, Brian Cole of California; his daughter, Wendy Wilkerson and husband, Darrell of Utah; stepchildren, Durk Carlisle and wife, Francis, Gene Carlisle, Connie Langdon and husband, Ken, Sandra Moore and husband, Keith, Dustin Fant, and Amanda Fant; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his sister, Judy Johnston; and his brother, Larry Cole; along with many other family members and friends who will cherish his memory.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel, 913 North Elm Street, Weatherford, Texas 76086.
Wes will be laid to rest during a graveside service at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 11, 2026, at Central Cemetery, 4290 Old Agnes Road, Weatherford, Texas 76088.
As those who loved him gather to honor his life, they will remember a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, veteran, and friend whose appreciation for God, family, and the outdoors left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
