Wayne Nell Alexander

Wayne Nell (Howell) Alexander departed from this life on Monday, May 1, 2023, at the age of 92. Nell was born the youngest of eleven children to the late Joseph Luther Howell and Cynthia Elizabeth (Hill) Howell on March 16, 1931, in Dennis, Texas.

After high school, Nell began her life with the father of her daughters, Russell P. Colley, as she worked in the retail industry and later for Lockheed doing aircraft assembly. Nell’s life was not without hardships, yet she persevered with strength and determination.

Nell loved playing sports, board and card games, working in her garden, and spending time surrounded by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was the perfect mother and grandmother to her family, and will be missed by them very much.

Nell was preceded in death by the father of her daughters, Russell P. Colley; her firstborn daughter, Rose Colley; her parents, Joseph and Cynthia Howell; and nine siblings.

Nell is survived by her daughter, Deborah and Ples Tillery of Weatherford, Texas; daughter, Rebecca and Charles Jacobson; six grandchildren, Paul, Nichelle, Jessica, Lisa, Tara, and Michael; 12 great-grandchildren; four great great-grandchildren; and sister, Cleo Henigan.

Her purpose on earth has been fulfilled, now all of heaven rejoices. She heard the call, took the outstretched hand of her Messiah. She is Home.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 5, 2023, at Johnson Cemetery, in Dennis, Texas.
