Walter Mack Cain, III, passed from this life on Monday, May 18, 2026, at the age of 67. Born on September 20, 1958, in Weatherford, Texas, to Walter Cain, Jr. and Marie (Reddell) Polk, Walter lived a life marked by hard work, service, and kindness to others.
Walter proudly served his country in the United States Army before returning home to Texas. Following his military service, he built a career in construction and contracting with Cleve Smethers Concrete. He enjoyed working outdoors and took pride in the labor of his hands. Known for his willingness to lend a helping hand, Walter never hesitated to go out of his way for those in need, leaving a lasting impression on the many lives he touched.
He was preceded in death by his father, Walter Cain, Jr., and by his sister, Connie Smethers.
Walter is lovingly remembered by his mother, Marie Polk; his sister, Sharon Hamerman and husband, Doug, all of Weatherford, Texas; along with extended family members and friends who will cherish his memory and the simple goodness he shared so freely.
A time for visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel in Weatherford, Texas, followed by a procession to Johnson Cemetery, 5600 FM 1189, Weatherford, Texas 76087, where a graveside service will begin at 2:30 p.m.
Though his earthly work is now complete, Walter’s memory will remain in the hearts of those who knew him.
