Vida Lorean Smethers

  Vida Lorean “Nannie” Smethers, 88, of Weatherford, died Sunday, July 1, 2007, in a local nursing center. Born July 25, 1918, in Oklahoma, a resident of Weatherford for many years, she was a homemaker, a member of Beulah Baptist Church, and a loving mother, grandmother, and great great grandmother, always putting her family first. 

  She was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil Calvin “Buddy” Smethers.   

  Survivors: daughters, Bonnie Smethers of Weatherford, Mary McBride of Weatherford, Patsy Ames of Aledo, Janice Walker and husband, Jerry of Millsap, Shirley Murphy and husband, Jeff of Weatherford, and Nickey Gammill and husband, Don of Poolville; son, Johnny Smethers and wife, Ellen of Brock; 17 Grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren.       

  Funeral service 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 3, 2007, in the Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel. Interment in Curtis Cemetery. Visitation 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, in the Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel.
