Veronika G. McClure

  Veronika G. McClure, age 83, of Weatherford, Texas, passed away on September 18, 2025, in Weatherford.

  Veronika was born on July 17, 1942, in Germany, to Adolf and Gerda Bucher. At the age of 20, she decided to come to the United States. She often said there was so much more freedom here, and that you could be anything you set your mind to. As she liked to say, Germany had “too many rules.” She spent 10 days on a freighter before arriving in New Jersey, then rode a bus for three days to Fort Worth, Texas. It was there she met her loving husband of 45 years, Bill McClure. Their story began when Veronika stopped into the 7-Eleven where he worked to buy a cup of coffee. He eventually asked her out - for coffee - and the rest was history. Veronika made Weatherford her home for the past 49 years and was proud to live there.

  She loved traveling the world, waking every morning to a pot of coffee, going to the casinos, tending her English garden, playing solitaire, visiting with family, and cheering on the Dallas Cowboys.

  Veronika is survived by her children, Danielle Ames and husband Anthony, and Robert McClure and wife Jolene; her grandchildren, Tara Biscardi and husband Zakk, Kaden Alexander, Kaitlin Smith and husband Reid, Ella McClure, and Emmie McClure; her great-grandchildren, Gage and Savannah Biscardi, and Austyn and Hattie Smith; her special sisters-in-law, Virginia Collins and Lillian McClure; and her beloved fur companion, Cooper.

  She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Robert “Bill” McClure; her brother, Gerd Bucher; and her grandson, Brandon Ames.

  Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel, with interment to follow at Greenwood Community Cemetery, Greenwood Rd. & Greenwood Cutoff Rd., Weatherford, Texas 76088.

  Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, September 26, 2025, at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel, 913 N. Elm St., Weatherford, Texas 76086.

  She will be deeply missed but forever remembered with love.
