Vernon Ralph Horton

  Vernon Ralph Horton, 79, of Weatherford, died Tuesday, April 28, 2009, in a Fort Worth hospice facility. Born October 8, 1929 in Bridgeport, Oklahoma, he was a resident of Parker County for many years. Vernon was a member of Spring Creek Baptist Church, a retired plumber, and later loved being a self employed farmer. 

  Vernon was preceded in death by his parents, Gordon and Lillian Horton. 

  The Horton family would like express deep gratitude to Odyssey Healthcare of Fort Worth for the care and compassion given to Mr. Horton. 

  Survivors: wife of 59 years, LaVerne Horton of Weatherford; daughter, Joanne Richardson and husband, Derek of Van Buren, Arkansas; son, Charlie Horton of Weatherford; siblings, Pauline Bashaw and husband, Wes of Gainesville, Arnold Horton of Kennedale, Wayne Horton and wife, Carolyn, Waymond Horton and wife, Glenda, both of Weatherford; grandchildren, Darrell, Russell, Jeff, Emily, and Leanne; nine great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. 

  Funeral: 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 2, 2009, in Spring Creek Baptist Church, with Rev. Brad Moore officiating. Interment: Spring Creek Cemetery. Visitation: 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel.
