Val was a loving mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, and friend. She was a graduate of Perrin High School, earned an Associate of Arts degree at Weatherford College, and later earned her BBA in Accounting from Texas Wesleyan University.

Val owned Remembrance Flower Shop in Weatherford from 1988-1992 where she worked together with her parents and sister.   Val showed her love to family and friends with her baking skills making yummy treats at Christmas and baking cakes on special occasions. Her talents for baking were recognized early on as she won several baking contests at local fairs. During the last several years Val used her passion for cooking as she worked at the Waffle House.

Over the years she developed deep treasured relationships with many co-workers and shared many stories about them. Val’s faith in God gave her peace and comfort during her short battle with cancer.

Val left behind many family and friends: her mother, Loneita McClendon; daughter, Kate Netsch and husband, Stephen; granddaughters, Erin Netsch and Lily Netsch; brother, Roy McClendon, Jr. and wife, Annette; sister, Pat Wright and husband, Wesley; niece and nephews, Shelbi Epps and husband, Justin, Cameron McClendon and wife, Hannah, Jeremy Wright and wife, Sari, and Jordan Wright and wife, Sara, along with many great nieces, nephews, and close friends.
