  Steven (Steve) Burdette Gebbie, 62, was born on September 1, 1964, in Creston, Iowa, and passed peacefully on September 20, 2026, in Weatherford, Texas.

  Steve lived a life with a simplicity that was never plain. He has been described as a colorful, funny man who could find humor in almost anything – and often cracked himself up before anyone else had the chance. His laughter was unmistakable, and his joy was contagious.

  He carried a lifelong love for the 70’s and 80’s – the music, the energy, the spirit. “Rock and Roll” wasn’t just something he enjoyed; it became his signature. He ended nearly every call and visit with a cheerful sendoff that fit him better than any ordinary goodbye. It was part farewell, part joke, and part celebration of the generation that shaped him.

  For many years, Steve ran his own mowing service, working hard and honestly until his health no longer allowed it. He approached his work the same way he approached life: steady, humble, and without complaint. When he wasn’t working, he loved buying things just to tinker, fix, and sell – always curious, always hands-on.

  Steve lived life frugally, choosing simplicity over excess, but he was generous in the ways that mattered. He loved deeply, especially those closest to him. Helping family was simply part of who he was – quietly supportive, never boastful, always willing.

  Steve is survived by his sister-in-law, Lorie Gebbie; nephew, Josh (Kayla) Gebbie and children, Alex and Greyson; nephew, Sean Gebbie and son, Dillon; niece, Cherie (Adam) Hromek and children, Braydon, Tanner, and Natalie Evans; and a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins.

  Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Art and Marilyn Gebbie and brothers, Rick and Gene.

  Steve will be remembered not for his grand gestures, but for the steady faithful way he lived – unassuming, sincere, and grounded in the values he held dear. His life was quiet, but his impact was lasting. “Rock and Roll, Steve.”

  Per Steve’s wishes, there will be no funeral service. A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
