Steve Rothrock

August 3, 1958 — August 17, 2023

Steve Rothrock, age 65, passed away in Weatherford, Texas and went to be with his Savior on August 17, 2023. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Lorraine Rothrock; his grandson, Cannon Blake Rothrock; and his nephew, Colt Rothrock. He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Grace Rothrock; his four daughters and their spouses: Dana and Clinton Pierce, Jessica and Haylee Williams, Bethany Rothrock and Lance Ragsdale, and Kara Rothrock; his former wife, Teresa Holladay (Brent); his four grandchildren, Clayton Roberts, Colton Roberts, Kaylee Pierce, and Lincoln Pierce; his sister, Karen Rothrock; and his brother, Jerry Rothrock (Pam Oliver); his nephew, Dustin Rothrock (Amanda); and his niece, Ashley Ingle (Michael); and numerous extended family members and many dear friends.

Steve was a member of the Oak Ridge Church of Christ in Willow Park and formerly served as a Youth Minister at the Azle Church of Christ. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Christian Ministry and Master of Science in Biblical and Related Studies from Abilene Christian University. Steve also completed graduate courses in speech and communication from both Abilene Christian University and Tarleton State University. He preached at the Tin Top Church of Christ for 19 years and was a professor of Speech and Communication at Weatherford College for 18 years. He loved his Lord and he loved his family. He passionately enjoyed his years of service as a minister and teacher. Taking road trips with his family, only by way of back roads, with stops at every historical church along the way, was one of Steve’s favorite ways to spend time with his wife and daughters. Steve enjoyed playing tennis with friends and even won Second Place in 1991 at the TCJC Spring Tennis Tournament Men’s Novice Singles. He always enjoyed woodworking and building things, including building and winning 1st place at the famous Scouts Pinewood Derby car race. He enjoyed playing golf with his brother and best friend and working on his land with his girls and grandkids. He shared his love of music with his family and played the guitar and banjo and enjoyed jazz music. He loved being a Dad and a Grandad. Steve rarely missed an opportunity to watch, cheer and support his kids and grandkids in their music and athletic events.

While Steve leaves a great void in the lives of all who knew him, he also leaves a great legacy of faith and love and service. He was a shining example of what a Godly man should be. We will forever be in pursuit of a life lived as well and as loved as Steve.

A memorial service will be held at the Oak Ridge Church of Christ, 4895 I-20 Service Rd N in Willow Park, on Sunday, August 27, at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Steve’s memory to Foster’s Home for Children in Stephenville, Texas, or to a charity of your choice.
