Stella Joann Reid

  Stella Joann Reid, 76, gently departed this world on Saturday, June 14, 2025. Born on August 6, 1948, in Fort Worth, Texas, she was the cherished daughter of Oran "O.D." Fought, Sr. and Catheryn Fought Hodges. Stella's heart was forever intertwined with her beloved husband, William “Bill” Reid, whom she married on March 3, 1972. Their nearly 50 years together was a testament to their deep love and commitment, which continues to resonate in the hearts of those who knew them.

  Stella was a nurturing soul, known for her warmth and kindness. She took great joy in cooking, ensuring that there was always a meal on the table and a warm, welcoming home, even while balancing her work commitments. Those who tasted her fried chicken could attest that it was truly unmatched.

  A devoted follower of her faith, Stella instilled the love of the Lord in her children by sharing the teachings of the Bible with them. She had a collection of angel figurines and enjoyed expressing her creativity through crochet and painting. Music was a joyful part of her life, with gospel tunes filling her home and Elvis Presley being her favorite artist to sing along to.

  Family meant everything to Stella - she loved them deeply and consistently prioritized their happiness.

  Stella leaves behind her loving children: Corey Reid (Sharon), Katy Easton (James), William Reid (Melissa), and Henry Reid (Sara). She also leaves her dear brothers, Oran Daniel Fought, Jr. and David Fought; her brother-in-law, Joel Bisbee; as well as 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren who will cherish her memory.

  Stella was reunited in peace with her beloved husband, Bill; parents, Catheryn and O.D.; siblings, Opal Fought, Shirley Bisbee, and Richard Fought; sisters-in-law, Diane Fought and Joyce Fought; along with her grandson, Jakob William Reid, and countless loved ones.

  A funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 19, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel, located at 913 North Elm Street, Weatherford, Texas 76086. Following the service, she will be laid to rest at Bethel Cemetery, 3196 Bethel Road, Weatherford, Texas 76087.

  In honoring Stella’s life, we remember not only her kindness and nurturing spirit but also the legacy of love and faith she leaves behind.
