Stanford Duane O’Neal, age 90, passed peacefully from this life on Monday, May 4, 2026.
Duane was born on February 11, 1936, in Seminole, Oklahoma, to Stanford O’Neal and Ida Rae O’Neal.
He was a resident of Bay St. Louis, Mississippi where he was a faithful member of Shoreline Park Baptist Church, in which he found fellowship and spiritual comfort.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Stanford and Ida O’Neal; his devoted wife, Mary Ann O’Neal; his beloved sisters, Janice Cooper, Yvonne “Bonnie” Dunklin, and Eulana O’Neal; as well as four of his six children: Steven O’Neal, Joe O’Neal, Danielle O’Neal, and Constance O’Neal.
He is survived by his daughter, Melissa “Missy” Bullock of Bay St. Louis, Mississippi; his son, Michael “Mike” O’Neal of Pueblo, Colorado; and an abundant amount of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, all of whom were a treasured part of his life.
He lived a life marked by a love for music, a spirit of adventure through his work and travels, and, most importantly, a deep dedication to his family - especially his children: Steve, Joe, Dani, Mike, Connie, and Missy, as well as Jackie, Nicky, and Jerry.
A talented musician, Duane enjoyed playing the guitar and banjo and loved to sing. Music brought him joy throughout his life and was one of the many ways he connected with those around him.
Duane spent much of his career traveling for work aboard Lear jets, working with infrared camera systems and aerial photography. His profession allowed him to see many places and experience life beyond the ordinary, yet no matter where he traveled, family always remained at the center of his heart.
Duane deeply loved and cherished his family and devoted much of his life to caring for those he loved. Affectionately known as “Poppy” to his grandchildren and many family friends, he was a steady source of love, guidance, and support. He helped raise his grandchildren and was always willing to lend a helping hand to family in any way he could. Generous and selfless by nature, Duane truly would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need.
Duane will be remembered for his gentle spirit, his love of music, and the care he showed to those closest to him.
