Shirley Wooten Overstreet, affectionately known as “Grananny,” passed away peacefully from this life on December 29, 2025, at the age of 81. She was born on May 30, 1944, in rural Le Flore, Oklahoma, to Marshall William Alston and Myrtle (Dansby) Alston.
Shirley was a fearless protector and devoted caretaker of both people and animals, always extending her love through open arms and a well-prepared meal. She delighted in cooking for those she loved and was known as an encourager and the life of the party, bringing laughter with her quick wit and warm sense of humor.
Professionally, Shirley worked as a physician's liaison prior to her retirement. She was a dedicated and dependable employee, known for her strong work ethic - often arriving early and staying late to ensure the job was done well.
Shirley was preceded in death by her first husband, Willie J. Wooten, in 1998; her late husband, Joe D. Overstreet, in 2021; and her parents, Marshall and Myrtle Alston.
She is lovingly survived by her children and their spouses: daughters, Tracie (James) Thurman and Karla (Chris) Monk; and sons, De (Lisa) Overstreet II and Kaj Overstreet and family. She was a proud and devoted grandmother to six grandchildren, Macie (Kaden) Fowler, Austin Beard, Tyson Monk, Dawsen Monk, Maci (Hunter) Linn, and Blake (Liz) Overstreet; and four great-grandchildren, Kooper Fowler, Bishop Beard, Sage Beard, and Rhett Linn. She is also survived by her sisters, Louise and Virgie, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Shirley’s life and legacy will be honored with a graveside service at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, January 5, 2026, at East Greenwood Cemetery in Weatherford, Texas. Family, friends, and all who were touched by her kindness are invited to attend and celebrate her life.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Manna Storehouse or Goodwill, or a sunflower may be planted in her memory.
Arrangements are by Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel. https://www.galbreaithpickard.com/
