Shirley Jean Chuchro

  Shirley Jean Chuchro, 78, of Weatherford, Texas, passed away peacefully on May 6, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born on November 11, 1946, in Cleburne, Texas, to Raymond and Jewell Lambert, Shirley lived a life full of love, laughter, and devotion to those she cherished most.

  Shirley married the love of her life, Phil Chuchro, on December 8, 1967, after a whirlwind six-week courtship. Their bond was undeniable, and their marriage flourished for 57 wonderful years. Together, they welcomed their daughter, Melissa, on October 11, 1974, and Shirley’s role as a mother, and later as a grandmother to Gracie, became her greatest joy. Shirley’s heart was always open to caring for others—whether it was her beloved husband, daughter, granddaughter, or the many nieces, nephews, and animals that found comfort in her presence.

  Throughout her life, Shirley was known by many names—daughter, wife, sister, Mom, Granny, Auntie, Aunt Shirley, Nanie, and friend. Each name was a testament to the special bond she shared with those around her. Her playful spirit and infectious laughter were a light to all who knew her. She loved to play solitaire, watch the Dallas Mavericks, gamble at Winstar, spend time outside enjoying nature, and going fishing to “wet a hook” anytime possible. Shirley was also known for her love of pranks, jokes, and good times shared with family and friends. Her warmth and sense of humor created lasting memories for all who had the privilege of knowing her.

  Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Jewell Lambert, and her older brother, Travis “Bubba” Lambert. She is survived by her devoted husband, Phil Chuchro; her daughter, Melissa, and husband, Steven Smith; her granddaughter, Gracie McBride; her brother, Rudy Lambert, and wife, Jan; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends who will forever hold her in their hearts.

  Shirley Jean Chuchro’s legacy of love, laughter, and selfless care for others will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Her spirit remains with us, a shining reminder of the joy she brought to this world.

  A memorial service will begin at 3:00 p.m., Monday, May 12, 2025, at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel, 913 North Elm Street, Weatherford, Texas, 76086.
