Shelby Dean Britt, Sr.

December 29, 1936 — August 6, 2013

  Shelby Dean Britt, Sr., 76, of Weatherford, passed away Tuesday, August 6, 2013. Shelby was born December 29, 1936 in Bosque County, Texas. Shelby retired from the Army Corp of Engineers as a Dam Specialist. Two of the many projects he is most recognized for are the dam at Joe Pool Lake and the San Antonio River Walk, for which he received an award. Although Shelby was highly acknowledged in his profession, he enjoyed a simple life.  

  He was preceded in death by his parents, Warren and Anna Titus; brothers, Billy Don and Manuel Britt; and his granddaughter, Salinda Britt. 

  Survivors include his children, Traci Lewis and husband, Mark of Dennis, Kim Hamilton and husband, Mike of Rio Vista, Shelby Chrastina and husband, Ron of Myrtle Beach, Shelby Britt Jr. and wife, Jodi of Fort Worth, Stephen Britt, Sr. and fiancée, Renita of Weatherford, and Kenneth Britt; sixteen grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; and a sister, JoAnn Sharbine and husband, Bill of Fort Worth.

  A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel followed by burial in East Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation is from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Sunday at the funeral home.
