Sheila Gay Singley went home to be with her Lord and Savior on October 28, 2025.
Sheila was born on February 18, 1955, in Oak Grove, Louisiana, to Bobby Dean and Opal Broadway. She grew up in Wichita Falls, Texas, before moving to Denton after graduating high school, where she welcomed two beautiful daughters into her life. In 1986, she married the love of her life, Larry Singley, and together they completed their family with his son, Dustin.
Many cherished weekends were spent with Sheila’s family at Possum Kingdom Lake and with Larry’s family at the farm in Rotan. In 1988, they settled in Arlington, Texas, where they built a warm and loving home.
Sheila and Larry formed lasting friendships through their church and their children’s many activities. Sheila treasured her Bible study group, fondly known as The Spice Girls, and shared countless laughs with her Arlington BUNCO friends. They purchased their lake home at Possum Kingdom in 2017 where they then met their "lake life" family including Dock Church and BUNCO groups.
A gifted gardener, Sheila found peace and happiness tending her yard - she could name nearly every plant in sight. She was passionate about all forms of art and loved to spend her quiet moments reading. In her later years, she especially enjoyed “lake life” - boating, spending time with friends, and soaking up the simple beauty of nature. Above all, her grandchildren, Hudson and Sawyer, were the light of her life.
In the 1970s-80s, Sheila worked as an operator for GTE, where she formed lifelong friendships. Once she became a mother, she devoted herself to raising her children, occasionally taking fun jobs with friends but always prioritizing her family. She was a proud and involved mom - cheering from the sidelines of countless cheer, volleyball, basketball, softball, baseball, and swim team events.
Sheila is survived by her devoted husband, Larry; her daughters, Laine Sparks and husband, Clint, and Lauren Pavell and husband, Jeff; her son, Dustin Singley; and her beloved grandchildren, Hudson and Sawyer Pavell; brother, Mark Lane Broadway and wife, Kathy; sister, Carla Eavenson; sister-in-law, Marybeth Henderson; brother-in-law, Mark Eavenson; and brother-in-law, Roy Singley. She is also remembered by many nieces, nephews, countless dear friends, and the family’s sometimes-loving cat, Sarah Jane.
Sheila was preceded in death by her brother, Pete Broadway; mother, Opal; and father, Bobby Dean Broadway.
Sheila was, and will forever be, cherished by all who knew her. Her kindness, warmth, and gentle spirit will continue to live on through the love and empathy she shared with every person - and every animal - she met.
