Scott Kelly Tompkins

  Scott Kelly Tompkins, age 62, passed away, Wednesday, September 3, 2014 in Weatherford, Texas. There will be a private memorial service on Sunday honoring Scott’s life. 

  Scott was born September 25, 1951, to Milton and Margie Kelly Tompkins, in Dallas, Texas. He graduated from Kimball High School in 1970 and then went on to pursue a bachelor degree in accounting from SMU in Dallas. Scott worked in the oil industry for Atlantic Richfield Company for 23 years. He retired after 15 years working with the Federal Bankruptcy Court in Dallas. 

  Scott loved his wife and family, his ranch and horses, and all God's creatures. He was a long time member and past chairman of the board of Rosemont Christian Church in Dallas, and yet he said he felt closer to God in the pasture than he did in church with a roof over his head. When it was his time to go, he was doing what he loved with his boots and spurs on his feet.

  He was preceded in death by parents, Milton and Margie Tompkins.

  Survivors: wife, Corey Tompkins of Weatherford, Texas; son, Scott Harrison Tompkins of Dallas, Texas; brother, Bruce Tompkins and wife, Brenda of Weatherford, Texas. 

  Visitation: 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Saturday, September 6, 2014, Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel.
