Samuel Lanham Phillips

  Samuel Lanham Phillips, Jr., 86, of Aledo, passed away Sunday morning, July 22, at his home.

  Funeral services celebrating his life will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Friday, July 27, 2018, at the Galbreaith Pickard Hilltop Chapel, 4941 E. I-20 Frontage Road, in Willow Park. Burial will follow at the Annetta Cemetery in Annetta. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, at the funeral home in Willow Park.

  Samuel was born on August 26, 1931, in Fox, Texas, to Samuel, Sr. and Lois Phillips. He married Wanda Billman and together had four children. He proudly served in the Texas National Guard for nine years. In his earlier years, Samuel enjoyed hunting, going to the First Monday Market in Weatherford, and was an active Mason. He enjoyed his career as a metaloloist. Most of all, Samuel will be remembered for his devotion to his family.

  Samuel is survived by his wife, Wanda; his children, Donald Wayne (Wanda Atchison) Phillips, Lea Ann Matteo, and Daniel Phillips; and his granddaughter, Jennifer Dishman and fiancée, Robert McCurdy.

  In addition to his parents, Samuel was preceded in death by his son, John Douglas Phillips.
