Samuel Goodman Brown died on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at his daughter’s home. He was 74 years, 11 months old.
Sam was born February 27, 1951 in Lubbock, Texas, a son of W. H. Brown, Jr. and Joyce Day Brown. He grew up in the Texas Panhandle where he graduated high school, and soon after joined the USAF. Sam served just over 20 years in the USAF and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He was an excellent marksman and weapons specialist, and his favorite duty stations were Thailand and England. While Sam was stationed in San Antonio, Texas, he met and married the love of his life, Anna Martin Waghalter.
Sam enjoyed his grandkids and great-grandkids, and collecting various things and bargain hunting.
He was preceded in death by his parents, W. H. Brown, Jr. and Joyce Day Brown; his wife of over forty years, Anna Waghalter; and two brothers, Kenneth Brown and Mac Brown.
Survivors include four daughters: Arlene Waghalter, Brandy Brown, Kelly Waghalter, and Melanie Johnson; a son, Shane Brown; a sister, Susan Morris; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Other siblings include Sara Setzer, Janet Van Viet, Diana Kaye, and Bill Brown.
He was loved by many and will be missed.
