Sammie Jean Newsom

  Sammie Jean Newsom, 79, of White Settlement, died Thursday, May 28, 2009, at her residence. Born July 6, 1929 in Weatherford, she was a resident of Tarrant County for many years, Sammie worked on the production line at General Dynamics for several years, was a Southern Baptist and a homemaker. She enjoyed sewing, knitting and making ceramics. Sammie always had a positive outlook on life and a great sense of humor. 

  She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Edward and Erval Hart Murrell and her husband of 51 years, Leonard Newsom. 

  Survivors: daughter, Linda Webb of Eastland; son, Robert Newsom and wife, Kathy; four grandchildren, Kevin Newsom and wife, Jonette and family, Jackson and Riley; Stephanie Stephen and husband, Stephen and family, Ethan and Lydia Henderson and Charlie Stephen; Valerie Ross and fiancé, Mauricio Michael Ross. 

  Graveside service: 10:00 a.m., Monday June 1, 2009, in the East Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation: 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Sunday, at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel.
