Russell G. Brown, age 81, peacefully passed away on Saturday, May 25, 2024, and made Heaven his home. Born on August 21, 1942, in Barstow, California, to Cleo Brown and Opal (Johnson) Brown, Russell's journey was filled with love, dedication, and joy.
Throughout his life, Russell showcased his talents as an athlete through his passion for golf and baseball. An avid fisherman, he found peace by fishing in tranquil waters and then relished in the joy of bass fish fry's.
Russell's life was marked by service and commitment. He bravely served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War before embarking on a fulfilling career as a firefighter in Bakersfield, California. His unwavering dedication to his profession and community left a lasting impact until his well-deserved retirement.
Upon settling in Weatherford, Texas, Russell found comfort and a sense of belonging as a devoted member of the North Main Church of God. He will be remembered for his unwavering faith and devotion to the Lord and the love he shared with those around him.
Preceded in death by his parents, Cleo and Opal Brown; brother, Robert Brown; and one great-grandchild; Russell is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Naoma R. Brown. He is also remembered with love by his son, Mark Brown, and daughter-in-law, Rene Brown; daughter, Debbie Craven, and son-in-law, Chris Craven; son, Jeff Nichols; along with nine grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and his cherished dog, Kassie.
A graveside memorial service honoring Russell's life will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., on Thursday, June 13, 2024, at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Springfield, Missouri.
