Ruby Velma Gardenhire, 100, of Weatherford, passed away Saturday, September 3, 2011 in the Weatherford hospital. She was born October 31, 1910, in Estelline, Texas, to Alger and Lena Tilghman Weatherly. Ruby was a homemaker, a former house parent for the Presbyterian Children’s Home and a member of Couts Memorial United Methodist Church. She enjoyed spending her leisure time crocheting, sewing and reading.
Ruby was preceded in death by her husband, H.S. Gardenhire, Jr. and her son, James Gardenhire.
Survivors include her daughter, Sue Ensminger and husband, Dick of Weatherford; grandchildren, Jimmy Gardenhire and wife, Sandra of Claremore, Oklahoma, Susan Maldonado-Tockey and husband, Roger of Burleson, and Cindy Gammill and husband, Doug of Poolville; seven great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
Funeral Service: 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 6, 2011, at Couts Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. Tim Jarrell and Rev. Georgia Orr officiating. Interment: 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 7, 2011, at Fairview Cemetery, in Memphis, Texas. Memorials may be made to Couts Christian Academy or Weatherford Order Eastern Star ESTARL Fund.
