Roy Lee Walker departed peacefully from this life on Sunday, March 8, 2026, at the age of 89. Roy was born on February 22, 1937, in Peaster, Texas, to Joe and Rosa Lee Walker.
Roy served in the Army as a Medic. He had a very strong work ethic and worked until he was at least 80 years old, but is probably best known for running the Weatherford Market with his brother Jerry and running the Weatherford Marina. He particularly enjoyed watching and feeding his many flocks of chickens and birds, feeding the deer and other wildlife, going to auctions, puttering in his vegetable garden and treasure hunts, and drinking coffee with his friends.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents, Rosa Lee and Joe Walker; his brothers, Herschel, Kenneth, Joe Bob, and Jerry Walker; and his sisters, Pauline Hogg and Mildred White.
Roy is survived by three children, Vickie Griffin and spouse Donny of Fort Worth, Texas, Owana Partain and spouse Mike of Arlington, Texas, and Casey Walker and spouse Kit of Youngstown, Florida; grandchildren and their spouses, Charles Griffin and spouse Summer, Samantha Mann and spouse Dickson, Kenneth Price and spouse Crystal, and Joseph Price; great-grandchildren, Dakota Bullon, Delanie Belknap, Madison Price, Easton Walker Price, Kameron Price, Jordan Whitely, and Jaiman Whitely; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, March 23, 2026, at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel, 913 North Elm Street, Weatherford, Texas 76086. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
