Ronald Charles Owens Miller

 Ronald Charles Owens Miller was born in San Antonio, Texas, to Alberta Boyd and Cecil Finley Owens on April 23, 1950. He grew up in San Antonio, graduating from McCollum High School in 1968. After high school, Ronald attended San Antonio College, later transferring to Sam Houston State in Huntsville. During his stay in Huntsville, he attended and graduated from the Texas Department of Corrections Officer Training School, graduating in 1970. Afterwards, he was hired to work at Ellis Unit and remained there until 1977.

 On October 12, 1973, Ronald married Sheryl Kleinschmidt and they moved from Huntsville to Riverside where they attended Riverside Baptist Church. After serving as youth director and teaching Sunday School, Ronald surrendered to full-time ministry and knew he needed to complete his education.

 He applied to Howard Payne University in Brownwood, graduating in 1981, with a B.A. in Theology. During his tenure at HPU, Ronald was also pastor at Sidney Baptist Church in Sidney, Texas. He was ordained into the ministry there on February 12, 1978. The couple's only daughter, Kimberly, was also born that same year.

 After graduation from HPU, Ronald moved his family to Crowley, Texas, while he attended Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Ft. Worth. During that same time, he completed the Regional Police Academy and was hired by the city of Crowley as a policeman.

 In June of 1982, the Millers once again moved. This time it was back to San Antonio where Ronald was hired as pastor of Harmony Baptist Church. After seventeen wonderful years, another move came. This time it was to Lexington, Texas, where Ronald was hired as youth director at First Baptist Church. Not long after, he became the senior pastor.

 In 2003-04, Ronald attended the University of Texas at San Antonio to earn his Teacher Certification and taught school in San Antonio until retiring in 2016. At that time, he was free to apply for his "dream/fun job" of driving the train at the San Antonio Zoo. After three years of engineering the train, Ronald went into another field of work--massage therapy. This certification came from Therapeutic Body Concepts from which he graduated in August of 2009. He continued to work as a massage therapist until his death.

 Besides his professional careers, Ronald had many hobbies. These include bowling, arrowhead hunting, motorcycles, playing guitar and singing, and metal detecting. He was President of the San Antonio Metal Detectors' Club for many years.

 Preceding Ronald in death were his mother, Alberta Allen; stepfather, Alfred Allen; and brothers, Glenn Owens and Harold Owens.

 Survivors include his father, Cecil Finley Owens of Gray, TN; wife, Sheryl Miller of Aledo, TX; daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly and Brandon Carter of Aledo, TX; son, Kenneth J. Miller of San Antonio, TX; grandchildren, Kiera Carter, Kesley Carter, Zachary Miller, and Haylee Hammes. Also surviving are sister-in-law, Becky Brock; two nieces and a nephew.

 Services will be held at New Faith Baptist Church in Annetta, TX, at 2:00 p.m. on August 22, 2026.
