Roger Allen Ames

Roger Allen Ames, 84, passed away Friday, December 18, 2020, at his residence. He was born December 27, 1935, in Weatherford, to Amos C. and Jewell Langley Ames. 

Roger worked for Ralston Purina for over 40 years and in his spare time he loved to watch western movies. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Janice Ames; siblings, Wilson Ames, Leo Ames, Jeannette Newberry, Willie Malone, and Nelda Corder; daughter, Debra Kay Southerland, as well as two granddaughters, Laura Kay Davis and Debra Dawn Southerland. 

Roger is survived by his sister, Joyce Ames; brothers, Edward Ames and wife, Rachel, and Jerry Ames and wife, Mary; daughter, Vanetta Ames Nelson; grandchildren, Mark Davis and wife, Lisa, Pamela Gent, Roger Southerland and wife, Olga, Crystal Southerland, and Austin Nelson; 11 great grandchildren and several great great grandchildren.

A visitation will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., Saturday, December 26, 2020, at Beulah Baptist Church, with a funeral ceremony to follow at 1:00 p.m. The family requests that all who attend please wear masks and be mindful of Covid precautions.
