Robert Wilson Shannon’s journey on this earth came to a peaceful end on February 29, 2024. He was born in Fort Worth, Texas, on November 6, 1946, to Marcel and Mary Shannon. He graduated from Weatherford High School in the class of 1964 and attended Weatherford College for a short time.
Robert worked as an auto mechanic for Montgomery Ward and retired after 25 years. He also worked for Parker County at Precinct Barn One from 2011 until again, he retired.
Robert and Linda celebrate 41 years of true love and companionship after meeting at a car race in 1982.
Robert’s life was filled with love, kindness, and unforgettable moments that will be treasured by those who had the privilege of knowing him. Robert said he was always told by his dad that his name was Robert and never let anyone call him by nicknames. Robert was a quiet, thoughtful man who had an amazing sense of humor. He loved playing games with his grandkids. He was devoted to them and would move mountains for them. He will be deeply missed by all of his family and all who knew him. His memory will live on in all their hearts.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Marcel Dudley Shannon and Mary Louise Wilson; and his brother, Marcel Dudley Shannon, Jr.
He is survived by his life long companion, Linda; and his brother, James Shannon, of Allen, Texas. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
A graveside service to honor and celebrate Robert’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Monday, March 4, 2024, at Oakland Cemetery, in Weatherford, Texas. It will be a time for all those who were touched by Robert to come together, share memories as they bid farewell to a remarkable soul.
As Robert would always part with, “See you later, Alligator, after while, Crocodile.”
