Robert Douglas (Doug) Hudson, 77, passed away on April 1, 2026, surrounded by the love and presence of his family.

Born a cowboy, Doug spent his life devoted to the things he cherished most: family, rodeo, horses, farming, and ranching. He spent his days at home working on the family farm, land that has been in the Hudson family since 1856. His exploratory nature often led to him and the family “riding around,” taking in the land and places that were beautiful enough — or peaceful enough — to maybe settle someday. Whether it was a livestock sale, watching a western, or an old café, his way of life was always within reach.

Doug worked for many years as a welder and pipefitter, providing tirelessly for his family until his retirement. His work ethic, grit, and quiet strength were constant in the lives of those who knew him. He cherished the friends whose stories he loved to tell.

He is survived by his devoted wife and best friend, Linda Hudson, with whom he shared 54 years of marriage and a bond that began in the 4th grade. Doug and Linda were constant companions, never far from one another.

Doug is also survived by his two sons and their wives, Case Hudson (married to Angie Hudson) and Beck Hudson (married to Melissa Hudson). He was deeply proud of his sons and the careers they built, and he held equal pride and affection for his daughters‑in‑law, whom he loved as his own.

Doug adored and was renewed by his six grandchildren: Wyatt Hudson and Ty Hudson, sons of Case and Angie; and his two granddaughters, Natalie Allen (married to Tyler Allen) and Julia Hudson (engaged to Hunter Lucas); Quinn Hudson and Samuel Hudson, sons of Beck and Melissa.

He is also survived by his cousin, Odell Averett and his wife, Debra Averett.

He was preceded in death by his father, Eugene Vernon Hudson, Jr.; his mother, Georgia Maxine Hudson; and brother, Bill Gene Hudson.

Doug instilled in his family a steadfast belief that all things are possible through Jesus Christ — and only through Him. His faith, his loyalty, and his love for his family will remain his legacy.

He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

We’ll see you when we get there, Dad.
