Robert (Bob) Earl Wright

September 28, 1941 — November 9, 2014

On Sunday, November 9, 2014, Robert Earl (Bob) Wright Jr., SFC US Army (Ret.), 73, of Weatherford, Texas, A Vietnam veteran, hopped a flight piloted by Jesus and his angels and drifted on a smooth ride from his world of pain to rejoicing with his heavenly father. Bob spent his 20-year military career with the Army Security Agency, overseas and in the U.S. A dedicated and devoted soldier, his honors include: Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal; Bronze Star medal; numerous Meritorious Unit commendations; National Defense Service Medal; Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal; Vietnam Service Medals (2 bronze SS); and Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry (w/Palm).
Sergeant First Class Wright was preceded in death by his parents (Robert Earl (Bob) Wright (Lt. Col. USAF Ret.) and Katy Marie Franklin Wright. He is survived by his wife of 50 yrs., Elizabeth (Betty) Thomas Wright of Weatherford; brother, William R. (Bill) and Debby Wright of Stephenville; brothers-in-law C.W. and Kathy Thomas of Lorena, Texas; and Jim and Wanda Thomas of Waco, Texas; aunts and uncle Wanda Crosthwaite, Leah Graber, John and Leta Wright; numerous cousins nieces and nephews; loyal family friend, Makayla Stephens and his “sweet, loveable” Chiweenie companion Baby Doll, who misses her daddy so much!
Bob and Betty met and married in Weatherford, Texas in 1963 while attending Weatherford College. They married in Weatherford on March 6, 1964, and celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this past March.

Bob was loved dearly by all who knew him for his sense of humor, his kindness and his charitable personality. His strong presence will be greatly missed but we know he is peaceful, happy and well in heaven. We will see him again “in the morning”.
 

Bob will be honored with a full military funeral on Thursday, November 13, 2014 at Bethel United Methodist Church, 3196 Bethel Rd. at 2:00 PM. Visitation is 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM prior to the service. Interment in Bethel Cemetery.
