Richard Kent VanRite, 67, of Weatherford, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, April 13, 2011 at his home. Kent was born February 17, 1944, in Shreveport, Louisiana, and had been a resident of Weatherford for most of his life. Kent was a mechanical engineer and created and built things his entire life.
With his creative mind, there was never a problem he could not solve. In past years he and his wife had their own construction/remodeling business.
His greatest joy was spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren at his home on the river. When recently asked what else he wanted to do in life, he said he had all ready checked everything off his list and was content with his life and his memories.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, James and Irene VanRite.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Claudia; his daughter, Lauri and husband, Wesley Gustafson of Weatherford; son, Kevin VanRite and wife, Martrice of Derry Ireland; sister and brothers, Cheryl Brockman, Chris VanRite and Jim VanRite; and four grandchildren, Trace, Rachael, Koen, Norah.

Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 16, 2011, at Couts Memorial United Methodist Church, 802 N. Elm St, Weatherford, Texas.
