Rena Mae Harwell

  Rena Mae Harwell, 95, of Brock, died Thursday, May 3, 2007, in a local nursing facility. Born May 14, 1911, in Lipan, she was a resident of Parker County for most of her life. Rena was a retired school teacher, teaching first at Brock with a temporary certificate, then at Carter school, North Side Consolidated and Dennis schools each for one year. After receiving her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Texas Wesleyan University, Rena took a full time position at Brock school where she later retired. 

  She was a member of Brock Baptist Church for more than 50 years where she was the church clerk and a part of the music ministry. Rena was President of Parker County Retired Teacher Association in 1981-1982, Vice President of the Organs Society in 1977-1978 and worked Election Days in the Brock Community. 

  She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Harwell in 1961; brother, Fred Billington, Jr.; and a grandson, Raymond Harwell.       

  She is survived by: sons, Glenn Harwell of Brock and Ronald Harwell and wife, Carmen of Mesquite; sisters, Katharene Feazell of Worthum and Grace Dawson of Fort Worth; one niece and two nephews. 

  Funeral service: 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 9, 2007, Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel. Interment: Brock Cemetery. Visitation: 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, at the funeral home.
