Raymond L. Loftis, born March 25, 1946, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 6, 2025. A beloved member of the Weatherford community, Ray leaves behind a legacy of kindness, integrity, and unwavering dedication to his family, friends, and faith.
Born in Mineral Wells, Texas, Ray proudly served in the United States Navy for 11 years. He went on to work as a machinist and later retired from the Railroad.
Ray’s life was marked by a deep commitment to serving others. For over 20 years, he faithfully pastored New Prospect Baptist Church, where he ministered with compassion and a servant’s heart. His impact on the community was both profound and lasting, as he consistently sought to uplift and encourage those around him.
A devoted family man, Ray cherished time spent with his grandchildren - whether taking them fishing, slipping them a few dollars to lend a hand, or playfully giving out his signature “wet-willies.”
Ray was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 48 years, Patsy Ann Loftis; son, Derek James Loftis; daughter, Joy Diane Loftis; as well as his parents and brothers, James R. Loftis, Jr. and Leonard Loftis.
Left to carry on his legacy are his daughter, Lorena Jennings; daughter and husband, Tammy and Charles DeRamus, Jr.; daughter and husband, Teresa and Larry Steward; 13 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren and one on the way; and by many extended family and friends.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 12, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel, 913 North Elm Street, Weatherford, Texas.
A funeral service celebrating Ray’s life will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at New Prospect Baptist Church, 250 Old Tin Top Road, Weatherford, Texas, with burial at Bethel Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Gary Jennings, Scott Bradley, Michael Bradley, C.J. DeRamus, Dustin Steward, Colton DeRamus, Sean Steward, and Rhett Loftis.
