Raymond Everett BeVelle

August 28, 1947 — March 6, 2025

Raymond Everett BeVelle, 77, of Garner, Texas, passed away on March 6, 2025. Ray was born on August 28, 1947, in New Mexico, and grew up in Chillicothe, Missouri and River Oaks, Texas. He graduated from Castleberry High School, in Fort Worth, Texas.

After graduation, he served his country in the Navy before receiving an honorable discharge. He later co-owned a hair salon with his father. Ray was a barber for most of his working career.

Ray had an undeniable zest for life and love for simple pleasures. Whether he was gardening, watching wild animals, or out near the water, Ray was happiest outdoors. Ray was an excellent marksman and received the highest score on his concealed carry shooting test.

Ray loved God and served Him faithfully. He served as Minister of Music for 15 years at Garner Baptist Church, where he also served on the Kitchen Committee and chaired the Building Committee, and prior to that as Music Minister at Shady Grove Baptist Church and Ball Street Baptist Church. Also, for many years, he was a member of the Wednesday Morning Men’s Prayer Breakfast Outreach, where they had fellowship, a devotional, an offering, and helped people in need.

Ray was known for his humor, quick wit, and positivity. Ray was so much fun, full of life and energy, and never passed up an opportunity to play pranks or jokes on family and friends.

A devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and cousin, he was tenderhearted, merciful, and compassionate. His presence filled the room and positively affected the atmosphere.

Ray loved his family, but adored his wife of 44 years, Ann. One of his favorite things was making the trip to Mooresville, Missouri, where he was affectionately known as Little Ray. He hunted deer and turkey, and picked wild mushrooms, and it meant a great deal to spend time with his family there.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Christine BeVelle; his sister, Vicki Hess; and his brother, Ron BeVelle.

He is survived by his loving wife, Ann BeVelle; children, Patty BeVelle, Wes BeVelle and wife, Diane; granddaughters, Olivia BeVelle and Gracie BeVelle; sister-in-law, Terry BeVelle; cousins, Claude BeVelle and wife, Saraha, and Jerry BeVelle; and nieces, Quincy Vinson and husband, Gage, Michelle Gardner and husband, Terry; and other loving family and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 22, 2025, followed by visitation in the fellowship hall, at Garner Baptist Church, 2304 FM 113, Weatherford, Texas 76088.
