Raymond Antonio Ortega, 63, of Mineral Wells, passed away Thursday, December 10, 2009, in a local care facility. Raymond was born September 6, 1946, in Rotan, Texas, to Antonio and Francisca Ortega.
Mr. Ortega was a correctional officer at CCA in Mineral Wells. He last worked in 2006 prior to health complications. Raymond enjoyed fishing and working in the yard. For leisure Raymond watched movies. He soon began collecting them in a personal library. Grandchildren were allowed to check the movies out of the library for personal viewing but they really enjoyed watching the movies with their Grandfather.
Mr. and Mrs. Ortega’s daughter, Lisa Ortega, preceded him in death on January 9, 1990. Also a sister, Juanita Hernandez, preceded Raymond in death.
Survivors include his wife, Juanita; daughters, Sandra Stephens and husband, John of Weatherford, Deborah Guest of Fort Worth, and Cinthia Ortega and Kristopher Green of Mineral Wells; seven grandchildren, Scott, Logan, Christine, Dawna, Samantha, Ray, and Kegan; nine great grandchildren; four sisters, JoLinda Ortega of St. George, Utah, Susan Ortega and Jesus Perez of Orem, Utah, Linda and Neil Harris of Provo, Utah, and Diana Ramirez and husband, Alex of Mineral Wells; a brother, Antonio Ortega, Jr. and wife, Delia; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, in the Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel. Visitation is from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday. Burial will be in Woodland Park.
