Paula LaFern Shelley

 It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Paula LaFern Shelley, a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend, who passed away peacefully on Friday, June 13, 2025, at the age of 86. Born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on April 26, 1939, Paula was the daughter of William Warren McConnell and Geneva "Neva" LaFern (Wofford) McConnell. She graduated from Hoisington High School in Kansas, Class of 1957.

 For 26 years, Paula faithfully embraced life as a Navy wife, supporting her husband, Robert Shelley, through his military service and the many moves and changes that came with it. Her strength, adaptability, and commitment to her family were hallmarks of her character during those years.

 She was a long-standing member of Couts Memorial United Methodist Church until 2020, when declining health made it difficult for her to attend. Paula’s love for beauty and community was evident in her involvement with The Garden Club, where she found joy in recognizing well-tended yards with awards and encouragement. 

 Paula had a deep appreciation for the simple joys in life. She found great pleasure in gardening, quilting, caring for animals, oil painting, and ceramics. She shared her talents and kindness generously, touching many lives through her creativity and thoughtfulness. 

 She was preceded in death by her parents, William Warren McConnell and Geneva "Neva" LaFern McConnell; husband, Robert Shelley (2011); and daughter, Rebecca Shelley. 

 Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Roberta Crews of Weatherford, Texas; and her beloved granddaughter, Rachael Shelley. Paula will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
