Patricia Lee Melson

Patricia Lee Melson passed away on Wednesday, October 11, 2023, at her home in Peaster, Texas, at the age of 79. She was born on October 10, 1944, to Marie J. & Paul V. Owens in Midland, Texas. She was the granddaughter of S.R. McKinney, the first mayor of Odessa, Texas.

Patricia graduated from Permian High School in 1964. Soon after, she married Bill Melson in 1964, and began raising a family in 1965. They had three children which they supported through all their endeavors including sports, raising and showing horses, and military enlistments. She spent 29 years working for Morris Caffy TV & Appliance.

Patricia was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. She was devoted to being at all events that her children and grandchildren participated in. She loved reading, caring for the family animals and pets, listening to Elvis music, and spending any time possible with her family. Patricia loved learning and keeping up with American and military history, as well.

Patricia was preceded in death by her mother, Marie J. Owens; her father, Paul V. Owens; brothers, Mike and Pat Evitt; and sisters, Frieda Evitt and Nancy Collins.

She is survived by her husband, Bill Melson of Peaster, TX; her son, Shawn Melson of La Vernia, TX; her daughter, Sheridan Melson and husband, Sam Husain of Oak Point, TX; and son, Jordan Melson and wife, Becky, of Liberty Hill, Texas; grandchildren, Chad Melson of Peaster, TX, Morgan D’Rubio and husband Ian of Denton, TX, and Paxton and Palyn Melson of Liberty Hill, TX.

A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, November 5, 2023, at 1:00 p.m., at Cox Ranch in Poolville, Texas. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Williams Syndrome Foundation or to an animal rescue organization of choice. 

The family would like to thank McKenzie and Regina of Hospice Plus of Weatherford, and Britne Ringener of Visiting Angels for the love, support, and care they provided during this time.
