Owen Roland Thomas, 80, of Millsap, died Tuesday, September 12, 2006, in the local hospital.
Born June 6, 1926, in Newmore, Texas, to Ruffie and Flora Thomas, he was a young WWII Army veteran, a heavy equipment operator for pipeline construction, a Texboro Ledbetter truck driver, and he worked on an oil drilling rig. He loved farming, ranching and being a Cowboy, Owen ran the grocery store in Cool, sold real estate for Harter Real Estate and Casey Real Estate and kept the grounds and buildings at the church for many years.
His parents, five brothers, and two sisters precede him in death.
Survivors: wife, Avis Thomas of Millsap; daughter, Geraldine Henderson of Millsap; son, Craig Thomas and fiancée, Lee of Santa Fe, Texas; granddaughter, Kelly Thomas and husband, Ryan of North Richland Hills; grandson, Forrest Thomas and wife, Michigo of Friendswood; sisters, Myrtle Allen of Stephenville, Amaranda Overton and husband, Mike of North Richland Hills, and Flora Reddell and husband, Coy of Weatherford; and brother, Clifton Thomas and wife, Ann of Glen Carbon, Illinois.
Funeral service 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 16, 2006, in the First Baptist Church of Millsap. Interment in the Fairview Cemetery.
Visitation 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, in the Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel. Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel in charge of arrangements.
