Nellie A. Frailey

February 1, 1934 — April 27, 2025

Nellie A. Frailey, 91, passed away on Sunday, April 27, 2025, in Weatherford, Texas.

She is survived by her four sons: David, Daniel, Paul, and James; and eight grandchildren: Shannon, Christopher, Mark, Timothy, Sherri, Hannah, Asher, and Taylor.

Born on February 1, 1934, in northeast India to missionary parents, Nellie spent the first 13 years of her life immersed in a setting that would profoundly shape her character. When her family returned to the United States, they settled in Ohio, where she completed high school in Columbus before attending Hanover College and earning a degree in teaching.

During her college years, Nellie met George Frailey. The two were married on August 27, 1955, and went on to attend Moody Bible Institute together, completing a 3-year missions’ program. The early years of their marriage were filled with movement and growth - George pursued his medical training while Nellie embraced motherhood, raising their four sons with devotion.

They eventually settled in Fairview, Michigan, where Nellie created a warm, loving home. Her faith was central to her life; she served faithfully at her church - teaching Sunday school, playing the piano, and offering help wherever it was needed.

Nellie’s hands were rarely still, whether typing insurance claims for George’s medical practice, preparing meals, knitting, or making music, she poured her energy into acts of service for her family, church, and community.

Coming to America in her teen years, led Nellie to always feel a little like an outsider. As her stature and influence grew in life, she never lost, however, this strong connection for those on the margins. Though shy as a child, she became warm and outgoing later in life and always seemed to gravitate toward the overlooked and lovingly supported them, pointing them to her Savior, Jesus Christ.

At this time, no formal services are scheduled.
