Naomi Ruth Wood

  Naomi Ruth Wood, 73, of Springtown, passed away Monday, July 19, 2010, in a Denton hospital. Naomi was born April 26, 1937, in Stidham, Oklahoma, to Jewell Shirley and Ernest Balford Lowry. She married Gerald L. Wood on October 20, 1956.
 
  Naomi was a published poet and enjoyed painting art. She loved acting and participated in Theatre Off The Square in Weatherford. In recent years she was able to travel with her sister. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Alvord.
 
  Naomi was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a daughter, Hollie Ruth McCabe; and a sister, Violet Stancill.
 
  Survivors include her children, Clayton Ernest Wood, Gerald Lyle Wood, Jr. and wife, Carla, Penny Sue Wheelis and husband, Gaylynn, and Allen Lee Wood; siblings, Gene Raymond Lowry, Sue Yocum, William Roy Lowry, Jerry Dale Lowry, and Fonda Lee Steiner; 14 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren.
 
  A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, July 23, 2010, at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Springtown Cemetery. Visitation is from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, at the funeral home.
