Lois Hardin

May 25, 1935 — July 29, 2025

Myrtle Lois Jones Hardin, age 90, of Aledo, Texas, passed away Tuesday, July 29, 2025 in Weatherford, Texas. Born to Ruby Myrtle Richardson Jones and Leslie Jones, May 25, 1935, Lois grew up on a farm in Brock, Texas and was a graduate of Brock High School in 1953. She attended Weatherford College, North Texas University, and Texas Wesleyan College. She received her BS from Oklahoma College of Liberal Arts in Chickasha, Oklahoma. Lois taught Vocational Home Economics with most of her 25 years of teaching in the Brock ISD. She loved teaching and took great pride in teaching many young women and men to cook, sew and all the many skills needed to take care of themselves and their families. Her former students speak fondly of the fun they had in Lois’s class as well as how much they learned from her. She had quite the sweet tooth and taught them how to make many different types of pies.

After retiring from teaching, Lois earned her auctioneer’s license and loved the hunt for special pieces which she would sell at auctions she held at her shop on South Main in Weatherford and other auctions. She also donated her auctioneering skills yearly to help the Retired Teachers Association support scholarships for local students. Lois and her husband, Raymond also worked for White’s Funeral Home.

In her free time, Lois loved spending time with a good book. Lois used her beautiful voice singing in a country band when she was young. Their theme song was Wild Wood Flower. She was a longtime member of the Soda Springs Baptist Church and loved to sing the hymns, sometimes singing with her husband, Raymond Hardin.

Lois is survived by son, Paul Hardin; grandsons, Nick Hardin, James Clark Hardin, Raymond Mitchell Hardin IV (Buddy), and Wade and his wife, Misty Harbour; great-grandchildren, Trent Harbour, Lukas Harbour, and Evelyn Mary Lois Hardin; brother, Robert Jones; sister, Glynda Jones Spears; former daughters-in-law, Judy Hardin and Tammy Helm; and many nephews and nieces.

Lois was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Raymond M. Hardin, Jr.; son, Raymond Mitchell Hardin III; mother, Ruby Myrtle Richardson Jones; father, Leslie Jones; and brother, Marvin Howard Jones.
