Murphy Dan Phillips, Jr., was born on August 11, 1943, in Natchez, Mississippi, to Murphy Dan Phillips, Sr. and Patsy Phillips. He passed from this life surrounded by the love of his family and the assurance of the faith that carried him throughout his life.

Murphy was preceded in death by his parents and by two siblings, Lenore and Jimmy.

He is survived by his devoted wife of nearly 65 years, Rama Phillips, whom he married on December 27, 1961. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, and service. He is also survived by his four siblings: Sherry Lindsey (Ronnie), Tim Phillips, Judy Ammonette (Billy), and Robin Phillips.

A loving and dedicated father, Murphy leaves behind three children: Murphy Keith Phillips (Sheri), Chris Phillips (Carol), and Laurie Green (John). He was a proud Pop to nine grandchildren and a cherished great-grandfather to eleven great-grandchildren, all of whom brought him immense joy and pride.

For more than fifty years, Murphy faithfully preached the Gospel of Jesus Christ. His unwavering faith was the foundation of his life and influenced everyone who knew him. Even after retirement, his commitment to serving the Lord remained steadfast. He lived the message he preached, leading with humility, compassion, kindness, and generosity. Murphy was a servant leader whose life reflected his deep love for God and for others. He never sought recognition for his acts of service, but quietly and faithfully cared for those around him. Whether offering encouragement, prayer, wisdom, or practical help, he touched countless lives through his genuine concern for others.

Above all, Murphy loved his family. He treasured every moment spent with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. His presence brought comfort, laughter, guidance, and unconditional love. His family will forever remember his steadfast faith, gentle spirit, and the example he set through a life well lived. Though he will be deeply missed, those who knew and loved Murphy find comfort in knowing that he has entered into the presence of his Savior, whom he faithfully served for so many years.

"Well done, good and faithful servant." — Matthew 25:23

His legacy of faith, love, and service will continue to live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all whose lives he touched.

A memorial service will begin at 2:00 p.m., on Saturday, July 25, 2026 at the South Main Church of Christ, in Weatherford, Texas. The service will be live streamed.
