Mildred Cardwell

  Mildred Jordan Cardwell of College Station, Texas, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at age 97. Mildred was born on March 12, 1929, in East Tennessee to Bud and Jessie Felts Jordan. She was the oldest of nine children in the Jordan family and attended school in Summer City, Tennessee. She later received her GED from Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, Texas. 

  In November 1949, Mildred came to Texas to meet her husband, who was returning home from Germany. Together, they welcomed two children, daughter Bonnie Sue Hobbs in 1951 and son Gary Lynn Hobbs in 1953. 

  After their marriage ended, Mildred married Ray Cardwell of Weatherford, Texas, in 1967. Mildred was a devoted mother and grandmother who cherished her family. Her children, Bonnie and Gary, both graduated from Weatherford High School. She was blessed with five grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren, who brought great joy to her life. 

  Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Cardwell; her parents, Bud and Jessie Felts Jordan; her brother, Edward Jordan; and her sisters, Loretta Jordan, Margie Jordan Cummings and Addie Jordan Brown of Tennessee, and Ruby Jordan Casler of Texas. 

  She is survived by her children, Bonnie Sue Hobbs Thomason and husband, Milton, of San Antonio, Texas, and Gary Lynn Hobbs and wife, Amy D., of Franklin, Texas; her five grandchildren, John Angeles and wife, Debbie of Salado, Texas; Diron Angeles and wife, Angela, of Grapevine, Texas; Robin Hobbs of College Station, Texas; Jennifer Hobbs of Lubbock, Texas; and Michael Hobbs and wife, Amy M., of Temple, Texas; twelve great-grandchildren, Quanah Ray Angeles, Dalton McCollum, Jordan Angeles, Gage Angeles, Aaron Angeles, Jackson Parr, Jace Parr, Penn Williams, Tucker Williams, Harris Jackson, Parker Hobbs, and Nathan Hobbs; and by her sisters, Thelma Jordan Ashley of Weatherford, Texas, Katheryne Jordan Anderson of Tennessee, and La Velle Jordan Currie of Florida. 

  Mildred's life was defined by her love for her family and the many relationships she shared throughout her years. She will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

  A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at the Johnson Cemetery, in Parker County, Texas.
