Melba Jean Ferguson, born on July 5, 1932, peacefully passed away on April 22, 2026. She leaves behind a legacy marked by her dedication to service, both in her professional and personal life, and the love she shared with family and friends.
Melba devoted much of her life to her career as a retail sales clerk and homemaker. She was a church librarian and dedicated member of the North Side Baptist Church, where her faith was a cornerstone of her life and where she nurtured a love for her community. Known for her creativity and patience, she cherished sewing and arts and crafts, activities that brought her great joy and allowed her to express her artistic talents.
She will be fondly remembered by her grandsons, Nic Goodson and Geoff Goodson and his wife, Vanessa. Melba’s heart was further warmed by her great-grandchildren Kailynn, Barrett, Aurora, Jack, and Parker, who brought light and laughter into her later years.
Melba was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Charles Gordon and Ruby Bernice (Goar) Gordon, whose memory she honored throughout her life; her husband, Jack Ferguson, and her daughter, Cheryl Goodson.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during visitation on Sunday, April 26, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel, located at 913 North Elm Street, Weatherford, Texas 76086. A graveside service will be held on Monday, April 27, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at City Greenwood Cemetery, 200 Front Street, Weatherford, Texas 76086.
Melba Ferguson’s gentle spirit, loving nature, and steadfast faith will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her. Her contributions to her family and community stand as a testament to a life well-lived and a heart deeply treasured.
