  Maxine Jefferson, 82, of Weatherford, died Friday, September 19, 2008, in a local nursing center. She was born July 9, 1926, in Crawford, Oklahoma. Maxine was co-owner/operator of Shady Oak Dairy having worked beside her husband E.R. Jefferson for many years. She was a member of Parker County Dairyman’s Association, Texas Farm Bureau, North Side Home Demonstration Club, and was nominated Weatherford College Woman of the Year in 1977. Maxine was known as “Nana” to many.  

  Her husband, E.R. Jefferson; son, Mike Jefferson; and brother, Sid Castle, preceded her in death. 

  Survivors: daughters, Melanie Jefferson of Weatherford and Belinda Diebold and husband, Marty of Arlington; son, Larry Jefferson of Weatherford; sisters, Lyndol Taylor of Andrews, Texas, Peggy Sanford and husband, Elmer of Stinnett, Texas, Nan Gordon and husband, Dick of Palakta, Florida, Marion Guy of Yukon, Oklahoma, Melba Rook of Spearman, Texas, and Linda Conley and husband, Clayton of Enid, Oklahoma; sister in law, Betty Castle of Fort Worth; brothers, Gene Riley of Perryton, Texas, Bert Riley and wife, Lorraine of Whitefish, Montana; several grandchildren and great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.

  Graveside service 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 23, 2008, in the Clark Cemetery. Visitation 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel.
