Maurice Eugene Lancaster

  Maurice Eugene Lancaster, affectionately known as "Gene," passed away surrounded by his loving family, on December 25, 2025, in Weatherford, Texas, at the age of 87. Born on March 12, 1938, in Alvarado, Texas, Gene was a devoted family man and a respected member of his community.

  Gene enjoyed a distinguished career, working initially with General Dynamics before retiring from Lockheed Martin. Gene also served his country honorably in the National Guard, showcasing his dedication and commitment to service.

  Known for his engaging personality, Gene had a natural ability to bring joy to those around him. He enjoyed playing jokes, often trying to be funny, which endeared him to many. Gene had a keen intellect, with a love for calculus and math problems, and he also enjoyed playing hoops, finding excitement and camaraderie in these pursuits.

  He is survived by his beloved spouse, Mary Lancaster; his children, Christy Roberts and her husband, Todd, DeWayne Lancaster and his wife, Lee Ann, and Joel Lancaster and his wife, Amy; as well as his cherished grandchildren: Tiffany, Cory, Zachary, Kandice, Jillian, MeKayla, Skyler, Chrislyn, Josh, and Caleb. Gene also leaves behind 8 great-grandchildren, ensuring that his legacy will continue through his family. He is also survived by his brother, Johnny and numerous nieces and nephews. 

  Gene is preceded in death by his parents, Neal D. Truett and Clara Christine Lancaster, who lovingly guided him through life. He is also preceded in death by his brother, Charles LeRoy.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Gentiva Hospice for their love and care during Gene's final days. As well as to the volunteers who sat with him bringing him comfort. 

  A graveside service to honor Gene will be held on December 30, 2025, at 1:00 PM at East Greenwood Cemetery in Weatherford, Texas. Family and friends are invited to gather to celebrate a life filled with love, laughter, and the cherished memories left behind. His spirit will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege to know him.
