Matthew Jarod Scott, Jr., a bright and deeply loved 9-year-old, passed from this life on Wednesday, March 17, 2026. Born on September 9, 2016, in Weatherford, Texas, Matthew was the son of Matthew Scott and Stella Hungate.
A student in Brock Elementary School and a member of Willow Park Baptist Church, Matthew embraced the simple, beautiful joys of childhood. He loved playing video games - especially Fortnite, Roblox, and Minecraft, enjoyed fishing, and found his greatest happiness in time spent with those he loved most. His competitive nature and lively spirit left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
Matthew will be lovingly remembered by his father, Matthew Scott, Sr.; Mom and Step-Dad, Stella Hungate and Jackson Harle; his siblings, Hailey Lynn Hungate, Deana Faye Scott, Michael Allen Scott, Jackson Henry Harle, Elizabeth Paige Harle, and Emilia June Harle; his grandparents, Wanda Sherman, Henry Harle, Lacari Hill, and Mike Hill; his great-grandparents, Donald Sherman and Theresa Hungate; and his great-great-grandmother, Margaret Gorman. He is also cherished by uncles, Jarrod Harle and Joshua Harle; aunt, Presley Hill; many aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family members.
Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of Matthew from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at Galbreaith Pickard Hilltop Chapel, 4941 I-20 Frontage Road, Willow Park, Texas.
A service celebrating Matthew’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 27, 2026, at Willow Park Baptist Church, 777 Crown Pointe Boulevard, Willow Park, Texas. Following the service, he will be laid to rest at Springtown Cemetery, 438 South Main Street, Springtown, Texas.
Though his time here was far too brief, Matthew’s joyful spirit and the love he shared will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
