Mary Roussin

August 22, 1961 — May 21, 2025

Mary Iola Roussin, age 63, passed from this life on Wednesday, May 21, 2025. Born on August 22, 1961, in Ilion, New York, to Harold H. Coffin and Barbara A. Ames, Mary’s life journey took a meaningful turn less than two decades later when she met the love of her life, David Roussin, at Gate 13 of the Los Angeles bus station. The two were married on March 7, 1980.

Mary began her professional career in Oceanside, California, serving first as a Reserve Police Officer and later as a Security Guard Supervisor. Her heart for service extended far beyond her work. She gave back to her community by volunteering with TIP (Trauma Intervention Program) Volunteers - comforting individuals and families during their most difficult moments, as well as through the Fort Worth Police Department’s Volunteer Citizens on Patrol program and active involvement in the school PTA.

Deeply proud of her Iroquois heritage, Mary was active in several organizations that supported Indigenous communities, including the Great Plains Restoration Council, the American Indian Community Council, and the American Indian Education Program with Fort Worth ISD.

Mary was a mother to many - her love knew no bounds. Her heart was larger than life, and her vibrant personality brought joy and laughter to all who knew her. She was witty, full of spunk, and often brought levity to conversations by lovingly “busting your chops.”

She found joy in simple pleasures: daisies, working in the garden, watching her husband mow the lawn, and occasional trips to the casino.

Mary was preceded in death by her father, Harold Coffin; her mother, Barbara Szczesniak; and several brothers and sisters.

She is survived by her husband of 45 years, David Mark Roussin of Aledo, Texas; three daughters and their spouses, Theresa (Marshall) Cargill, Tiana (Clifford) Whittington, and Tia Frederick; seven beloved grandchildren, Kenna, Koda, Kaiden, Lizz, Rhett, Kyler, and Aiden; and her siblings, Harold Coffin, Jr., Donald Coffin, Debra (Shawn) Brown, and Jay Szczesniak, Jr.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at the Galbreaith Pickard Hilltop Chapel, 4941 I-20 Frontage Rd, Willow Park, Texas 76087. The family kindly requests that guests not wear black, in honor of Mary’s bright spirit and love for daisies.
