  Mary “Marie” Wainscott, 89, passed away Friday, May 9, 2014 at Hilltop Park Rehabilitation Center in Weatherford, Texas. Marie was born December 5, 1924 in Elbert, Texas, to Grace and Elzie Hann. She grew up in Young and Throckmorton Counties graduated from Olney High School. In 1943, she married Ira B. Wainscott of Olney, Texas. They had two daughters, Beverly Marie and Lawana Gale born in Olney and later moved to Weatherford in 1951.

  Marie’s first job in Weatherford was a bookkeeper for Mahan Drug Store located on the square and then as salesclerk for Gilbert’s Clothing Store. She then became the secretary for Mr. Thomason at American National Insurance Company until the office closed. She then received her real estate license and sold real estate for many years. Her last job was as the front desk clerk at the Weatherford Public Library, which she enjoyed immensely. She was a member of North Side Baptist Church and was active in her Sunday School Class until her health failed. She loved music, dancing, sewing and traveling.

  Marie leaves behind her daughters, Beverly McVey and husband, Jerry of Milford, Kansas, Gale Miller and husband, Steven of Weatherford; three grandchildren, Betty M. Kujawa of Butte, Montana, Thomas A. McVey of Independence, Missouri, Scott Miller of Keller; one great-grandson, Justin T. McVey of Independence, Missouri; two sisters, Malva Holder of Lamesa, Veta McGowen of Sundown; and numerous nieces and nephews.  

  She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Ira; her parents; and brothers, E.J. Hann, Harley Hann, and Jerry Hann.

  Visitation will be Monday May 12, 2014 at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A graveside service will be held at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Tuesday May 13, 2014 at 11:00 a.m.
